Administration / Community Events Volunteer
In this volunteer role, the volunteer will work closely with the Community Relations Coordinator, assisting with
community events as needed. They will act as a representative of CHSLC, promoting our mission and values
at a community event. They will work with the coordinator to develop and maintain a newsletter.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with community events throughout the year
- Help with setup and takedown of booths/tables at indoor and outdoor events
- Attend events alongside the Community Relations Coordinator and interact with the public
- Support coordination and execution of special events
- Help develop and maintain a CHSLC newsletter
- Provide general administrative support related to events and outreach
Location
Volunteer activities will take place at various locations, including:
- CHSLC office (for newsletter and administrative tasks)
- Community event sites across Perth and Smiths Falls
Work Environment
Office environment (CHSLC)
Outdoor community spaces
Indoor public venues
Regular interaction with members of the community, often for extended periods
Skills and Qualifications
- Friendly, approachable, and positive attitude
- Compassionate and respectful communication skills
- Comfortable engaging with the public
- Basic computer skills are an asset (especially for newsletter assistance)
- Must complete a Vulnerable Sector Check through the OPP (at no cost to the volunteer)
Time Commitment
- Approximately 1-2 hours per week on an ongoing basis
- Additional time commitment for 3-4 community events per year, which may require extended hours on those days
