Congregate Dining Volunteer
In this volunteer role, congregate dining volunteers play a crucial role in providing and serving meals to adults 65 years or older, as well as engaging clients in social activities through a social program offered after meals or during coffee time.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet and interact with clients
- Promote a friendly, inclusive and respectful atmosphere
- Prepare coffee and tea before clients arrive
- Set up table settings
- Help plate food to serve
- Assist clients if needed
- Help with cleaning up and loading dishes in the dishwasher
- Follow all health and safety guidelines and hygiene protocols
- Report any health or safety concerns about clients to staff
- Participate in programming after a meal or during coffee time
Location
CHSLC offices, Smiths Falls or Perth. Occasionally, offsite for special occasions, such as picnics in a park.
Skills and Qualifications
- Friendly, compassionate, and respectful attitude.
- Friendly, patient, and dependable.
- Ability to assist clients with limited mobility, if needed.
- Ability to stand for extended periods,
- Food handling experience and asset (not required)
- Team-oriented and able to take direction from staff
- Must complete a Vulnerable Sector Check through the OPP (at no cost to the volunteer)
