Volunteer Transportation Driver

In this volunteer role, volunteer transportation drivers play a vital role in helping adults 65 and over, adults with physical disabilities and/or a life-limiting illness, to maintain their independence by providing safe, reliable transportation to medical appointments and other essential outings

Duties and Responsibilities

Location

Locations of drives vary.  Local drives will be held in the town where the office you are volunteering at is located, either Smiths Falls or Perth. Out-of-town drives can range from a short trip to the next town over to longer drives to the cities of Kingston or Ottawa.

Work Environment

Travelling to and from medical appointments in your vehicle.

Interaction with the clients that you are driving.

Navigate parking and drop-offs at various hospitals, doctors’ Offices, and other medical buildings.

May have to assist clients into one of the above locations

Skills and Qualifications

Time Commitment

It is up to the volunteer on how much time they would like to commit weekly

  • Local driving 1-2 hrs per drive (unless otherwise stated by the coordinator)
  • 2-5 hours out of time, depending on the destination
